DRY WALL
With the speed of a hurricane, this hired dad and son team had all the drywall up (and done well) in a matter of days! The house looks so much different now. The finishers come today to make it all pretty.
STAIRWELL
The stairwell turned out better than I thought and surprised everyone (so little faith in my artistic skills). It is very nautical, geometrical, and a little sassy.
THE UPSTAIRS SHOWER
Last night, The Engineer and I whipped up some mortar (it's like whipping up a quadruple nutroll recipe); took some measurements, problem solved ahead of time and laid out the shower stall with the perfect slope. I really had fun with him. This weekend, the tile (all stages of it) begins. I am patient and will wait for that perfect tile to be shipped. It is gonna be so cool. *This is the only time we did not agree when designing the house. I wanted a full glass wall for the shower to let in light and reduce the chances of mold build up, he wanted a half wall - should have done the full glass wall.
TILE (MAIN AREA OF HOUSE)
I picked the tile for the downstairs MONTHS ago. He always says, "Are you sure?" I took hours to pick it out and I am standing by my decision (why does he always do that?). I checked Lowe's and the tile is $3.68 a sq. ft (special order) and online is it as low as $3.16 not including shipping; so Lowe's wins :). It is a 20"x20" Grigio La Fontane and PERFECT for the downstairs.

WOODSTOVE AREA
We went with slate and the Old Mason was there to help us along the way.
WOOD FLOORING UPSTAIRS
Lowe's and Lumber Liquidators are really competitive in price so we were looking at the install costs unless you are doing it yourself (we are DIY all in baby). We picked a wood that surprised us both; Cheyenne Birch. Usually we lean towards cherry or teak - HUM, well that's that.
